Maca
has been busy making a name for itself, considered by many a
miraculousaptogenic herb (adjusts to the bodies needs),
Maca has
outstanding properties and should be carefully studied much more
by the medical profession. This website has a considerable amount
of information that can be examined and studied about maca for you
to come to your own conclusions. There are many farmers and
growers of maca on many altitudes and regions, however because
Peru is a third world nation its struggling farmers are growing
maca every where to earn incomes for there families, However it is
important to understand that sanitary conditions and standards are
sub-standard
in many facilities and that is why Imperial Gold Maca™ is grown
on its own contracted organic land and analyzed at the National
University Of Agriculture for best potency and maximum sanitary
conditions.

A Complete Background On Maca Is

Understanding Of The Uses And Effectiveness Of This Remarkable Natural Herb.

MACA is a hearty plant cultivated high in the Andean
Mountains at altitudes from 11,000-14,500 feet. The only area where this particular
species of MACA is found is a region of intense sunlight, winds, and below freezing
weather. With its extreme temperatures this Peruvian mountain area rates among the worst
farmland, yet over the centuries MACA learned to flourish under these harsh growing
conditions. MACA was domesticated about 2,000 years ago by Peruvian Indians and primitive
cultivars of MACA have been found in archaeological sites dating back as far as 1600 B.C.
To the Andean Indians, MACA is a
valuable commodity. Because so little else grows in the region, MACA is often traded with
communities at lower elevations for other staples like rice, corn, and beans. The dried
roots can be stored for up to seven years. Native Peruvians have used MACA since before
the time of the Inca's for both nutritional and medicinal purposes.

MACA has
been used medicinally for centuries in Peru to enhance fertility in humans and animals
at high altitudes. Soon after
the Spanish Conquest in South America, the Spanish found that their livestock were
reproducing poorly in the highlands. The local Indians recommended feeding the animals
Maca and the results were so remarkable that the Spanish chroniclers wrote in-depth
reports about Maca. Even Colonial records of some 200 years ago indicate that payments of
about 9 tons of MACA were demanded from one Andean area for this purpose. In 1961, Dr.
Gloria Chacon de Popovici, a biological researcher, published her studies when her
research clearly demonstrated the increased fertility in animals using MACA. To date her
work on MACA is unmatched!

Dr. Chacon's work answered
important scientific questions about MACA, which contains important amounts of fatty acids
including linoleic, palmitic and oleic acids. MACA is rich in sterols and has a high
mineral content as well. In addition to its rich supply of essential nutrients, MACA
contains alkaloids, tannins and saponins. A chemical analysis shows the presence of
biologically active aromatic isothiocyanates, especially p-methoxbenzyl isothiocyanate,
which have reputed aphrodisiac properties. Analysis of MACA indicates that the effects on
fertility are a result of glucosinolates. Dr. Chacon discovered the four alkaloids present
in MACA that are responsible for MACA's reputed positive effect on hormonal
issues such as hot flashes, memory problems, fatigue, and male
impotence more than forty years ago as a 20 year old student at
the University of San Marcos, in Lima, Peru. She continues her
lectures and symposiums on a regular basis to the medical world.
Here she is with NASA Peruvian Astronaut Noriega.

MACA is growing in
world popularity and may have energizing effects, like fertility enhancement
qualities, and aphrodisiac type benefits that may improve libido. Other traditional uses
may also include increasing energy levels, physical stamina and endurance
in athletes, and may also promote mental clarity, treat male impotence, help with menstrual
irregularities and female hormonal imbalances including
hot flashes, fatigue,
mood
swings, and other pre ands post
menopausal
difficulties. Additional studies are required to better
understand this unique vegetable plant better.
The cultivation
of MACA is increasing in the highlands of the Andes to meet the growing demand world wide
for Maca's medicinal uses. In this severely economically depressed region, the market for
Maca is creating new and important sources of income for the peoples of the Andes. Her

Much confusion exists about MACA. and several
species of MACA are being sold that have the same claims. The only species backed by scientific studies is Lepidium
peruvianum Chacon, named after the researcher, Dr. Gloria Chacon de Popovici, this MACA is
known to contain all the nutrients and alkaloids responsible for the medicinal and
beneficial effects MACA is known for. Only Lepidium peruvianum Chacon has scientific
studies behind it. Dr. Chacón has worked directly with Imperialgoldmaca.com
when consulted with to insure that the correct information is
communicated to the public and buyers of our Imperial Gold Maca™
brand. Other species called MACA
are wild or from different regions or parts of South America and and may not grow in this specific region of Peru and do not meet the medicinal and
nutritional standards of Lepidium peruvianum Chacón as outlined in Dr. Chacón's
book. Many brands of MACA are rated
standardized and are made in a laboratory as opposed to grown in rich mineral soils that
contain the healing qualities and alkaloids found in
Imperial Gold Maca™ available only through A Healthy Alternative,
LLC or it's worldwide distributors. Using only organic premium grade Maca root,
this MACA is considered the best all natural product available anywhere. It
is produced at The National University Of Agriculture At La
Molina, Peru.

Will I Have To Take MACA For
The Rest of My Life ?
No, since MACA is not replacing hormones it is fine to start using
the herb at any time and to stop without any danger to the body. It is advisable not to
use it continuously but to alternate periods of taking the herb with periods of rest from
the herb to maximize the body's response to MACA. For example, stay on 90 - 120 days and
off 30 days might be a good rest period for the body.
How Does MACA Compare to
Other Menopausal Herbs Like Black Cohosh or Other Formulas ? MACA
has natural qualities that provides the ingredients to help support menopausal health. The herb works through the
hypothalamus and pituitary to help insure a more balanced and healthy hormone levels in the body.
Many men and women witnessed the difference within a week or two. MACA
users have reported that it helps to promote sexual
function, and vaginal lubrication, and, in general benefits
of natural healthy, balanced hormone levels in the body because of the
nourishing effect as a food. Black Cohosh, licorice root, and soy
products all contain weak plant estrogens and have not been as satisfying to most women. Many
women do not feel a lasting difference when they take these herbs or the effect is not
lasting. For this reason we feel Imperial Gold Maca™
is believed a better choice and the results are in many cases quicker. View

MACA's Reported General Effect on Sports
Performance: The head trainer of a major league U.S. baseball
team ordered MACA for the entire
team as an integral part of their sports nutrition program after using it himself and
experiencing that it supported his energy. Men who work out have begun to use MACA to
promote stamina and personal trainers are recommending it to their clients. Athletes
notice a difference within an hour approximately and excel with greater endurance
in general. (Read
some of the testimonials).
How Effective Is MACA As An
Aphrodisiac? MACA's ability to act as an aphrodisiac is
very well known. Ask almost any South
American if they have ever heard of MACA and they will probably smile back and say
"Oh, yes, Spanish Viagra". MACA is not Viagra, but it
does nurture and feed the hormonal system of men and women nicely so well
that a healthy hormonal balance is improved and the body can operate at
better condition than before. Some studies have recently
indicated that the reason for the libido enhancing effect of MACA is due to isocyanothides
and fatty acids. Further research is needed but numerous testimonials
indicate that it has worked for many, maybe not for everyone but it does
give a more natural choice for the user.

How Can MACA Help To Balance
Or Regulate Hormones In Men
& Women?
MACA is an adaptogen herb. This means the herb
will work in the body according to the needs, age and gender of the person using
MACA. Maca is a clear classic example
of what an adaptogen is. As can be surmised from the word itself, an
'adaptogen' is a substance that helps the body to "adapt" to particular
stresses put upon it and for the body to adapt to those stresses by
regulating itself naturally with the stimulation of an herb food. For
example If a woman is entering menopause and is perimenopausal,
she begins having symptoms
related to a change in hormone production such as fatigue, night sweats, dizziness or
palpitations, it is very likely her hormones are no longer working
effectively or being produced in amounts that
can work in concert with each other. For example, her estrogen production may be normal
but her progesterone production is unable to keep up with it. Or, as she begins menopause,
her estrogen production may drop off leaving her with too much progesterone. Or the
production of both these hormones could be too low for her to maintain a good quality of
life before and after menopause. MACA has been shown to be very helpful in
helping to promote the body's production of
the proper amounts of hormones to maintain general health and well being.
Even in men testosterone levels can
improve to a degree, sexual potency can be improved naturally as the body
regulates its own self.
Who Is Dr. Gloria Chacon de Popovici ?
Gloria Chacon de Popovici, PhD, is the biologist
from
South America who, in 1960, isolated the 4 alkaloids responsible for the
medicinal and nutritional effects of MACA. Dr. Chacon, who has worked with
the United Nations and Universities in both North and South America, lives
with a
powerful commitment to bring the knowledge of MACA to other countries concerned
with hormonally related illnesses, malnutrition, osteoporosis and all who
suffer needlessly who still do not know about this magnificent discovery she
says. She continues her research and advocacy for maca today.

Are There Testimonials From User's Of

How Effective is MACA For Fertility?
Dr. Chacon has said MACA has been known to increase a women's
ability to conceive rather dramatically as shown frequently in her native
Peru. She says This happens because of MACA's ability to promote
the production of the Luteneinizing Hormone (LH). The LH causes ovulation.
She goes on to say that MACA has also
been shown to increase sperm counts in men and her research studies on
animals were conducted with several
Doctors in Peru. Dr. Chacon and other Doctors were extremely successful with
test results in almost all cases with infertile animals.
Are There Any Known Side Effect's ?
After hundreds of years of use as a food in
South America specifically Peru and the recent extensive increase in the consumption of MACA
popularity in this country
and globally there are have been no known side effects reported. However, ongoing concerns exist about the
different species and
purity of MACA being sold around the world. For this reason Imperial Gold Maca is certified
to be the species discovered by Dr.
Gloria Chacon as the species and purity of best MACA (Lepidium peruvianum Chacon)
and as having been grown in accordance with her discoveries 40 years ago.

What Is The Difference Between Other
MACA Products And Yours ?
Other
species of MACA like typical vegetable plants grow wild and at lower altitudes in parts of Bolivia, Argentina,
Chile, Brazil
and even Peru. The MACA like some plants are then harvested under less than optimal conditions with
flowers and weeds that grow at these lower altitudes, different soil
conditions and even other countries. Not all Maca's
are the same, they can have reduced medicinal properties or enzymes and serve of minimal
health
value. (also see standardized) Imperial Gold Maca™ is
analyzed at the
National University Of Agriculture at La Molina, Peru and is guaranteed to
be the very best maca product available today. "If its not Imperial Gold Maca™,
its just not maca" Maca
sellers should have strong credentials and have very high standards.
|
|
Imperial Gold Maca™
is guaranteed
to be grown at the proper altitude of 13000 feet and above sea level. No other plants
can grow at this
altitude. Imperial Gold Maca™
is 100% pure premium organic MACA root and
is guaranteed to be the correct species and to contain the alkaloids
discovered by Dr. Chacon that have the
medicinal properties that produce the wonderful benefits.
|
|
Can Children Use Maca ?
Dr.
Gloria Chacon has performed tests over a period of time with the assistance of Dr. Jorge
Aguila Calderon and Dr. Freddy Madrid Gironda on local children in Peru, with similar
results as adults received. Children who had trouble with attention and staying focused,
were relieved considerably of these symptoms, in addition, they become more alert and
calmer according to her observations.
